Riyadh– The President of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council has appointed Dr. Shaea al-Zindani as Prime Minister, succeeding Salem bin Breik, and tasked him with forming a new government.

According to the official Saba News Agency, the decision stipulates that the current government will continue in a caretaker capacity, excluding appointments and dismissals, until the new cabinet is formed.

In parallel, the President also appointed Salem bin Breik as his Advisor for Financial and Economic Affairs, following the acceptance of his government’s resignation to pave the way for a new cabinet.

The agency noted that the reshuffle aligns with recent developments aimed at restoring state institutions, strengthening sovereign decision-making, reinforcing values of partnership and collective responsibility, and advancing comprehensive reforms and anti-corruption efforts.

President Rashad al-Alimi praised bin Breik and his cabinet for their role in maintaining economic and monetary stability during the past period, despite severe funding challenges exacerbated by Houthi militia attacks on oil facilities, supported by Iran.
