Paris — French President Emmanuel Macron condemned what he described as “state violence” being exercised against Iranian women and men, affirming his country’s solidarity with all those calling for respect for fundamental rights and freedoms.

In an official post, Macron said he condemns “state violence that blindly targets women and men in Iran who are courageously demanding respect for their rights,” stressing that respect for fundamental freedoms is “a universal requirement.”

The French president added that France stands alongside women and men who defend these values, emphasizing that rights and freedoms are not an internal matter but a universal human principle that must be upheld everywhere.

This stance comes amid ongoing tensions and protests inside Iran, alongside growing international condemnation of the authorities’ handling of demonstrators calling for reform and respect for fundamental rights.
