New U.S. Sanctions Target Iranian Entities: Renewed Pressure on Tehran’s Nuclear Ambitions

Paris- In a move signaling continued U.S. resolve toward Tehran, the United States on Monday imposed sanctions on one individual and five entities based in Iran, citing their support for the country’s nuclear infrastructure specifically the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and its subsidiary, the Centrifuge Technology Company.
The action, taken under Executive Order 13382, which targets proliferators of weapons of mass destruction and their supporters, aligns with the “maximum pressure” strategy originally implemented under former President Donald Trump. Despite changes in administration, Washington’s firm stance on Iran’s uranium enrichment efforts remains unchanged, underscoring a bipartisan concern over Tehran’s advancing nuclear capabilities.
According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the sanctioned parties are involved in supplying or manufacturing key technologies used to support and expand Iran’s nuclear program, particularly in enhancing centrifuge development. These capabilities, Washington argues, are central to Iran’s potential to produce weapons-grade fissile material.
While diplomatic efforts to revive the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) remain stalled, these sanctions highlight the U.S.’s continued reliance on economic pressure to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Treasury officials emphasized that any actors involved in facilitating or supporting Iran’s nuclear development through technical cooperation, procurement, or material support—will be held accountable.
The move sends a clear message: the U.S. remains committed to preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and will act decisively against entities contributing to proliferation risks in the region.
