The police administration in (Amurskaya) County, Russia, reported that a thief dozed off after stealing an apartment in Blagoveshchensk in the Russian Far East, where he was surprised by the homeowner upon her return from work.
The police mentioned that the lady, aged 54, informed the authorities that she found a strange man sleeping in her house. It turned out that the criminal had sneaked into the apartment at night through the window with the intent to steal, after making sure that the homeowners were absent. He packed several items, including a TV and an electric saw, into bags, ready to transport them. However, he assumed the homeowner would not return soon, decided to take a rest, and fell asleep.
Upon her return, the homeowner surprised the thief and informed the police, who promptly arrived and arrested him. It turned out that he was a 45-year-old local man, previously convicted in cases related to property theft and illegal drug trafficking.
A criminal case has been initiated against him under paragraphs three of Articles 30 and 158 of the Russian Criminal Code (attempted theft with unlawful entry into a dwelling), a crime punishable by up to six years in prison.
