UAE-based Khazna Data Centers said it has broken ground on two new facilities in the UAE as it looks to expand its data centre footprint and meet demand for AI workloads.
The two new data centre facilities in Abu Dhabi – AUH4 in Mafraq and AUH8 in Masdar City – will provide a combined 60MW of capacity, and are due for completion in December 2026 and August 2026, respectively.
Khazna said the two new facilities will join its QAJ1 facility in Ajman that is currently under construction to play a crucial role in supporting the growth of digital and AI-based services across the UAE.
QAJ1 is billed by Khazna as “the region’s first AI-optimized data centre”. All three data centres will be tailored to support both AI and cloud workloads.
“The UAE economy is transforming rapidly as industries across the board continue to embed AI into more of their critical processes,” said Khazna CEO Hassan Alnaqbi in a statement. “This is creating unprecedented capacity demand for AI-optimized infrastructure, and we’re proud to be meeting this demand.”
QAJ1 is designed with a load capacity of 100MW, with the initial project phase scheduled to be ready in December 2026.
For the AUH4 and AUH8 facilities, Khazna said it’s using a modular design architecture to improve efficiency during the build phase, with minimal waste and faster construction timelines.
The two data centres will also use adiabatic free cooling to improve cooling efficiency, the company said.
