Arab leaders urge Israel not to undermine 2-state solution

Egypt, Jordan and the UAE jointly stressed the importance of Israel stopping all measures that undermine the two-state solution, and the need to return to negotiations to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in accordance with international law. Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Jordan’s King Abdullah and Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed at Cairo Airport. A spokesman for the Egyptian presidency said: “It was agreed to continue coordination and consultation on all issues and files of mutual interest, with the aim of unifying visions and movements, supporting joint Arab action and making the necessary efforts to preserve national security.” The talks witnessed a review of the latest regional developments, especially increased Israeli-Palestinian tensions. The three leaders stressed “the importance of sustaining efforts to restore calm in Jerusalem, and the need to respect the legal and historical status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque.” On the Russia-Ukraine conflict, they emphasized “the importance of giving priority to the language of dialogue and diplomatic solutions, and endeavors that would speed up the political settlement of the crisis in a manner that preserves international security and stability.” The crown prince said: “The UAE continues its efforts to enhance Arab cooperation for the good of the countries and peoples of the region.”
