Israeli military says it attacked an ambulance it claims was being used by Hamas

The Israeli military said on Friday that one of its aircraft had attacked an ambulance that soldiers assessed was being used by a Hamas unit in Gaza.

Israeli “aircraft struck an ambulance that was identified by forces as being used by a Hamas terrorist cell in proximity to their position in the battle zone”, a military statement said.

It claimed a number of Hamas fighters had been killed in the strike and that it had information that Hamas was using ambulances to transport fighters and weapons.

Ashraf Al Qidra, spokesman for the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza, said the ambulance was part of a convoy leaving Al Shifa Hospital. He added that "a big number" of people were killed and wounded but did not give exact figures.
