In recent events, the celebrations marking the agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have been marred by tragic incidents involving stray bullets. 

These incidents have resulted in the loss of innocent lives and have raised concerns about the safety and security of civilians during such events.

One notable incident occurred in Al-Raqqa, where a civilian succumbed to injuries sustained from stray bullets during the celebrations of raising the flag of the Syrian revolution. The situation escalated as members of the Internal Security Forces opened fire on protesters, leading to further injuries and chaos.

The issue of stray bullets is not new in Syria. The country has witnessed numerous incidents where innocent civilians have fallen victim to indiscriminate gunfire. 

For instance, in the al-Hamidiyah Souq area near the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, an eight-year-old boy was fatally injured by a stray bullet during New Year celebrations. Despite the Syrian law criminalizing such acts, the ongoing instability and proliferation of weapons have made it challenging to enforce these regulations effectively.

In another incident, a young man from Kansafra Town was shot dead by stray bullets in the Al-Bardaghly camps in northern Idlib countryside. 

The Syrian Observatory has documented numerous incidents of accidental gunfire and collateral damage due to the widespread availability of arms among civilians.

These tragic events highlight the urgent need for stricter enforcement of laws against indiscriminate shooting and better control of weapons among civilians. 

The Syrian government and SDF must work together to ensure the safety of their citizens and prevent such avoidable losses in the future.
