Jordan has rejected the Arab League’s request to ban the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas and label them “terrorist movements”, informed sources told the Shehab news agency yesterday. The sources said the Arab League’s General Secretariat has sent a secret letter to the Jordanian Ministry of Interior calling for the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas to be banned in Jordan. The sources added that two Arab countries initiated the secret request ahead of the Arab Interior Ministry conference held in Tunis earlier this month. According to the sources, the Jordanian interior ministry has requested the Jordanian General Intelligence Department’s opinion, which in turn replied that “the kingdom has no interest in such action” because it comes in the context of “some countries’ internal escalation” against the Muslim Brotherhood and the Saudi-UAE incitement against the two movements.
