Israeli forces killed 84 Palestinians and injured 338 others in Gaza over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll from the 22-month war to 64,231, with over 161,500 people injured, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

Israel kills dozens of Palestinians every day in Gaza and has announced the start of the second stage of conquering Gaza City, home to nearly half of the 2.2 million population of the enclave, and reoccupy the entire enclave.

“We have entered the second phase of Operation Gideon’s Chariots to fulfill the objectives of the war,” said Israeli army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir on Wednesday.

Israel is proceeding with the operation despite global concerns over the deepening humanitarian crisis throughout the enclave, which has amounted to famine.

A report published in August by the UN-backed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) officially confirmed famine in Gaza City and surrounding areas for the first time.

The analysis found that over half a million people in Gaza are currently trapped in famine conditions, and projected that by the end of September, famine will spread across the enclave.

It further warned that by June 2026, more than 100,000 children under the age of five will be at risk of death due to acute malnutrition.

Israel has dismissed the IPC report, with Netanyahu calling it an “outright lie.”

In the past 24 hours alone, three additional people died from famine and malnutrition, bringing the total number of such deaths to 370, including 131 children, according to the health ministry on Thursday.
