Amman — The Jordanian Public Security Directorate (PSD) confirmed on Wednesday that its forces killed two wanted fugitives affiliated with extremist ideology during a security operation in the northern city of Ramtha.
According to the PSD statement, the operation targeted individuals classified as dangerous outlaws who were implicated in extremist activities.
The suspects resisted arrest and engaged security forces, prompting a decisive response that resulted in their deaths.
The Directorate reported that three members of the security forces sustained injuries during the confrontation. They were immediately transferred to hospital for treatment, and their conditions are described as stable.
Authorities emphasized that the raid was part of ongoing efforts to combat extremist threats and safeguard public safety. The PSD reiterated its commitment to pursuing individuals who pose risks to national security, stressing that Jordan will not tolerate attempts to destabilize the country or spread extremist ideology.
The incident underscores the challenges Jordan continues to face in countering radical elements along its northern border, particularly in areas vulnerable to extremist influence. Officials assured the public that security operations will continue to ensure stability and protect citizens from terrorist threats.
