Kim Jong Un praises his soldiers who helped Russia in the war against Ukraine

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has praised his troops deployed to help Russia in its war against Ukraine.

According to foreign media, Kim "conveyed warm encouragement" to officers and soldiers who served in Russia's Kursk region, the official Korean Central News Agency reported.

"Our military is heroic," Kim was quoted as saying in a speech to members of the military in the capital.

"Our military is now doing what it should do and what needs to be done. It will do this in the future as well," Kim added.

Russia and North Korea have forged increasingly close relations, with Pyongyang confirming for the first time in April that it had deployed a contingent of its soldiers to fight alongside Russian troops.
