Egyptian authorities have dismantled a female-led gang that had been exploiting individuals planning to travel abroad. The gang was arrested in a coordinated operation following multiple complaints filed by victims who were defrauded out of significant amounts of money.
The suspects, posing as travel agents, targeted aspiring travelers by offering fake travel packages, visa assistance, and overseas job opportunities. Once payments were made, the victims were left stranded without any means of follow-up or recourse.
Law enforcement officials launched an investigation and tracked the suspects through financial transactions and communication records. The arrests were made during simultaneous raids across multiple locations in Cairo and other cities. Evidence, including forged documents and large sums of cash, was seized during the operation.
The Ministry of Interior has commended the efforts of the police force, emphasizing the importance of protecting citizens from such scams. The suspects are now in custody, awaiting trial, while authorities continue to investigate whether other accomplices were involved.
