A recent video shared by the mother of a deceased young man in Morocco has stirred controversy and reignited discussions around organ donation and medical ethics in the country. 

The woman, whose son died in a traffic accident in 2021, claimed that his organs were removed without her knowledge or consent—accusing the hospital of stealing them.

The video went viral on social media, prompting an official investigation and a swift response from Morocco’s Public Prosecution in Casablanca. 

Authorities refuted the allegations, stating that the organ removal was lawful, medically supervised, and conducted only after obtaining written and biometric consent from the mother herself. 

The operation reportedly involved the removal of the kidneys and corneas, carried out post-mortem under strict regulatory oversight.

Medical officials cited the use of advanced diagnostic methods, including brain imaging, to confirm death prior to organ retrieval. They emphasized that the procedure adhered to both national and international ethical standards for organ donation.

While the incident sparked emotional reactions and public concern, legal experts and health advocates highlighted the importance of transparency, informed consent, and public awareness in maintaining trust in organ donation systems.

The case has opened broader conversations in Morocco about medical literacy, organ donation laws, and the need to educate citizens on their rights and responsibilities when dealing with sensitive procedures.
