Sana’a – The United Nations has strongly condemned the detention of ten additional UN staff members by Houthi forces on December 18, describing the move as “arbitrary detention” that directly threatens the continuity of humanitarian operations in Yemen.
In its statement, the UN stressed that this escalation constitutes a blatant violation of international law and undermines ongoing humanitarian efforts to deliver life‑saving assistance to millions of Yemenis facing dire conditions.
The organization warned that such practices risk disrupting humanitarian operations and further aggravating civilian suffering across the country, urging the immediate and unconditional release of all detained staff.
