Yemeni Commander Survives Roadside Bomb Attack in Shabwa

Shabwa — The commander of the Third Shabwa Defense Brigade, Brigadier General Fawzi Al‑Saadi, survived an assassination attempt on Sunday after a roadside bomb targeted his convoy along the Ataq–Areen road in Shabwa governorate, southeastern Yemen.

Security sources said the explosive device detonated as Al‑Saadi’s motorcade was passing through the area, but the brigadier general escaped unharmed. The attack caused damage to vehicles in the convoy, though no casualties were immediately reported.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, which underscores the fragile security situation in Shabwa, where armed groups and militants have carried out repeated attacks against military and security personnel.
