‘Israeli’ army and Shin Bet announced on Sunday, Aug. 31, that they had eliminated Hamas spokesman “Abu Obaida” in a strike, releasing a photo showing Huzaifa al-Kahlout alongside Hamas military chief Mohammed Deif and Khan Younis commander Rafa Salama.

According to 'Israeli' allegations, Kahlout was Abu Obaida and was responsible for "Hamas’ propaganda and psychological warfare efforts, including distributing footage of the October 7 attacks and videos of Israeli soldiers and civilians held in Gaza."

The military described him as a central figure in Hamas’ operational leadership.

However, the claim remains unverified. Hamas has not confirmed their spokesperson was killed, nor acknowledged that al-Kahlout is actually Abu Obaida.

Independent verification of the reported killing is currently lacking, and analysts caution that such statements cannot be considered fully confirmed.

The ‘Israeli’ military released the documents and images as part of what it described as evidence of al-Kahlout’s role in Hamas’ leadership. The images show him standing with key figures in the group’s military wing, which the army says underscores his prominence in operations and propaganda.

Observers note that without confirmation from Hamas or independent sources, the true identity and fate of Abu Obaida remain uncertain.
