Doha -- Morocco’s B team won the FIFA Arab Cup after defeating Jordan 3-2 in extra time in the final at Lusail Stadium in Qatar on Thursday, coinciding with the Gulf state’s National Day.

Substitute striker Abderrazak Hamdallah came off the bench in the 72nd minute with Morocco trailing 2-1 and scored twice to secure the title.

He equalized with three minutes remaining to force extra time before netting the winner in the 100th minute, early in the first period of extra time.

Morocco had taken an early lead in the fourth minute through an audacious long-range lob by attacking midfielder Oussama Tannane from close to the halfway line.

Jordan fought back with two goals from Ali Elwan in the 48th and 68th minutes and were close to claiming their first Arab Cup crown before Hamdallah turned the match around late on.

The title was Morocco’s second in the regional competition, following their triumph in 2012.

Morocco participated in the FIFA Arab Cup with their B team as the first team is preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations hosted by the North African country from 21 December to 18 January.
