Yemen: Official Resumption of Operations at Ataq Airport After a 10-Year Hiatus

Shabwah – March 12, 2025- In a significant step forward for development and reconstruction efforts in southern Yemen, the official resumption of operations at Ataq International Airport took place on Tuesday in Shabwah province, marking the end of a decade-long closure. During his visit to Shabwah, Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) member, Major General Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, announced the resumption of civilian flights to and from Ataq Airport following the completion of comprehensive rehabilitation work, including infrastructure upgrades and operational facility enhancements.
Major General Al-Zubaidi emphasized that the airport’s reopening is a major boost to development efforts in Shabwah, significantly facilitating the movement of citizens and enhancing economic and trade ties between Shabwah and other provinces. Furthermore, it is expected to stimulate investment and attract new development projects.
