Israeli warplanes launched a series of intense airstrikes on mountainous regions in eastern and northern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah sites and infrastructure, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency and the Israeli military.
The strikes focused on the Bekaa mountain range near the Syrian border, hitting a Hezbollah training camp and a precision missile production facility. Additional raids targeted the Hermel region in northern Bekaa and a military site in the Sharbin area of northern Lebanon.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported at least two fatalities resulting from the bombardment, raising concerns about a renewed military escalation that could destabilize the fragile security situation.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that it “struck several terrorist targets,” describing the operation as a response to hostile activities by Hezbollah along the northern border.
These developments come despite a ceasefire agreement signed in November 2024, which ended over a year of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. The renewed tensions highlight the fragility of the truce and the persistent risk of escalation.
