Amman -- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said on Sunday that His Majesty King Abdullah II has received an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to join the Peace Council, noting that the relevant documents associated with the invitation are currently under review in accordance with Jordan’s internal legal procedures.

The ministry’s official spokesperson, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, affirmed that the Kingdom values President Trump’s leadership role in reaching a ceasefire in Gaza, launching a comprehensive peace plan, and the efforts he is making to achieve security, stability, and peace.

Trump has begun forming the “Peace Council” for the Gaza Strip, with several world leaders announcing on Saturday that they had received official invitations to join it.

The White House previously clarified that, under the U.S. plan to end the war in Gaza, a Peace Council chaired by Trump would be established.

In addition to the council, two other bodies have been created: a Palestinian technocratic committee to temporarily administer the Gaza Strip, and an “Executive Council” that appears set to play an advisory role.

The White House said the Trump-led Peace Council will address issues such as strengthening administrative capacity, regional relations, reconstruction, attracting investment and large-scale financing, and mobilizing capital to rebuild the Gaza Strip, which was devastated by a two-year war.

The Peace Council will also oversee the work of the Palestinian technocratic committee tasked with the temporary administration of Gaza, aiming to restore essential public services, rebuild civil institutions, and stabilize daily life in the Strip.
