Iraq Freezes Assets of Houthis and Hezbollah, Labels Them Terrorist Organizations

Baghdad -- The Iraqi government has announced the freezing of all financial and real estate assets linked to Yemen’s Houthi militia and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, following their official designation as terrorist organizations.

The decision was issued by the Committee for the Freezing of Terrorists’ Assets and published in Iraq’s official gazette, Al-Waqai Al-Iraqiya. It listed both groups among 24 entities accused of involvement in terrorist acts and extremist financing.

Authorities confirmed that the measure covers movable and immovable assets, as well as economic resources connected to the two organizations, as part of Iraq’s broader efforts to combat money laundering and terrorism financing.

The move has sparked political reactions, particularly from factions aligned with Iran-backed armed groups, while the government emphasized that the step reflects Iraq’s international commitments to counter terrorism.
