Damascus -- The Syrian Army on Saturday announced that areas west of the Euphrates River have been declared a “closed military zone” following attacks on its forces by the YPG/SDF terror group.

“We announce the area west of the Euphrates as a closed military zone after terrorist PKK militias targeted army forces during the implementation of the agreement,” the army's Operations Command told the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The Operations Command urged civilians to immediately distance themselves from militant positions in the area, saying: “We call on our civilian families in the area west of the Euphrates to stay away immediately from the sites of terrorist PKK militias and remnants of the former regime, allies of the SDF.”

The Command also said that “Terrorist PKK militias are planting mines on the Shuayb al-Dhikr bridge in the western Raqqa countryside to obstruct the implementation of the agreement,” warning that “blowing up this bridge would disrupt the agreement and will have very serious consequences.”

Earlier, the Syrian Army said the YPG/SDF terror group attacked one of its patrols near the city of Maskanah in eastern Aleppo, killing two soldiers and wounding others.

In March 2025, the Syrian presidency announced an agreement for the terrorist organization YPG/SDF's integration into state institutions, reaffirming the country’s territorial unity and rejecting any attempts at division.
