Egypt's Pyramids FC have officially decided to request non-Egyptian referees for their crucial league matches against Al Ahly and Zamalek in the title-deciding phase of the Nile Egyptian League.

The club has decided to take the necessary steps in accordance with league regulations.

According to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) regulations, clubs can request foreign referees at least 15 days before a match. Pyramids FC believes this timeline is suitable, given the ample time remaining before their fixtures against Al Ahly and Zamalek.

Pyramids are scheduled to face Al Ahly on April 12 at the Air Defense Stadium while the Pyramids vs. Zamalek clash will take place on May 13 at Cairo International Stadium.

Pyramids currently lead the Nile Egyptian League standings at the end of the first phase with 42 points, three points ahead of second-placed Al Ahly (39 points) and ten points ahead of third-placed Zamalek (32 points).

Meanwhile, the Cairo derby between Al Ahly and Zamalek, which will take place in the first round of the league’s decisive phase on Tuesday, will be officiated by Egyptian referees. Neither club has submitted an approval to cover the associated costs of the foreign referees.
