Kim Kardashian says Ye's recent antics have "tested" her.
The Season 7 premiere of Hulu's "The Kardashians" previewed appearances from Rob Kardashian and Caitlyn Jenner, bickering between Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian and Kim Kardashian's brain aneurysm scare. The latter, the socialite says in the clip, may be caused by her stress amid the aftermath of her divorce from the rapper formerly known as Kanye West. She is seen going through an MRI scanner and tells her family it was a "little aneurysm."
Later in the episode, she opens up about the stress of her ex-husband's recent tirades.
Speaking on camera while in her trailer shooting the upcoming FX series "All's Fair," the Skims founder, 45, said feels "more stressed" because of "what I had to protect. My kids are involved now."
She added that protecting their children together – North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6 – is the only thing on her mind when the "Flashing Lights" rapper's behavior becomes erratic. "They're going to know things. They're going to grow up. They're going to see. My job as a mom is just to make sure that at a time when that behavior is happening, is just to make sure that they are protected."
It's unclear which of the "Power" rapper's many outbursts Kardashian is speaking on, but she said "it was the first time, I think, one of my kids knew what was happening. I've been able to hide it for so long."
She continued: "I always felt like I had a little bit of Stockholm Syndrome, to where I always felt really bad, and always protected, and always wanted to help. And this was the first time I didn't feel that responsibility personally."
Stockholm Syndrome is a psychological response where hostages or victims become sympathetic to their captors or abusers.
Kardashian said she can't just walk away from the situation, given that West, 48, is the father of her children. "It's very confusing, because it'll be all this talk on the internet of like, I'm keeping the kids. He's never once called and asked. But then I'll wake up, and it's on Twitter that I'm keeping the kids."
She quipped, "It's a divorce, not a kidnapping. We haven't left. We're in the same spot. What happened to the house that you bought next door?"
West bought a house next to Kardashian's Hidden Hills, California, estate in 2021, shortly after she filed for divorce.
Kardashian said at the time she suggested West take the kids to school every day and that they have dinner together as a family nightly, but those plans never came to fruition. "Maybe that's too much, but that's just what I saw from my mom and my stepdad and my dad."
She said that after the antics die down, she gets antsy. "Like, 'It's been a little too quiet, it's gearing up.'"
In recent years, many of the Grammy Award winner's online outbursts have centered on his children, including allegations that he has been kept from seeing his children and rants and serious claims about Kardashian's parenting. Other fits have been hateful, veering into racist and antisemitic diatribes. He has also been hit with several lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct and improper workplace behavior.
