Tripoli-- A private Dassault Falcon 50 jet carrying Libya's army chief of staff, Lieutenant General Mohammed Ali Ahmed Al-Haddad, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ankara's Esenboga Airport on December 23, 2025, killing all eight people on board.

The victims included General Al-Haddad, four senior Libyan military officials, and three crew members. According to Turkish media reports, one of the crew members was a Greek citizen—a woman. However, the Greek embassy in Ankara stated it had not been officially informed of any Greek national among the fatalities.

The aircraft, bound for Tripoli after high-level defense talks in Turkey, reported an electrical failure and requested an emergency landing before crashing near Kesikkavak village in the Haymana district, south of Ankara

Libya's Government of National Unity declared three days of national mourning. Turkish authorities recovered the black box, and an investigation is ongoing, with initial indications pointing to a technical malfunction and no evidence of sabotage.
