Riyadh -- The U.S. Embassy in Yemen issued an official statement condemning the terrorist and unjustified attack targeting a Yemeni government military convoy in the Jaoula area, north of Aden.
The statement reaffirmed that the United States stands with the Yemeni government against such acts that undermine security and stability, stressing the importance of bringing those responsible to justice.
Incident Details
- The convoy belonged to Brigadier General Hamdi Shukri al-Subaihi, commander of the 2nd Giants Brigade and the 7th Infantry Brigade.
- A car bomb was used in the assassination attempt, but Brig. Gen. Shukri survived.
- The explosion killed two of his escorts and injured five others.
- No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
