Yemen Tops Arab Countries in U.S. Immigration Visas for 2024

Washington — Yemen has emerged as the leading Arab country in terms of U.S. immigration visas issued in 2024, according to newly released data from World Population Review.

The war-torn nation surpassed more populous and politically stable Arab states, reflecting the deepening humanitarian crisis and growing migration pressures.

The majority of Yemeni immigrants reportedly entered the United States through asylum programs and family reunification channels, with fewer arriving on employment or student visas. The Yemeni-American community—particularly in states like California, Michigan, and New York—has played a vital role in supporting new arrivals and helping them integrate.

Experts say the surge in immigration reflects forced displacement due to ongoing conflict, economic collapse, and deteriorating living conditions. The figures have prompted renewed calls for international action to address the root causes of Yemen’s crisis and expand humanitarian support.
