Washington -- The Wall Street Journal has revealed that the U.S. administration is weighing the option of a complete military withdrawal from Syria, a move that could mark a significant shift in American policy toward the conflict-ridden country.

According to the report, ongoing deliberations within President Trump’s administration include multiple scenarios for reducing the U.S. military footprint, up to and including a full withdrawal.

Officials are assessing the potential consequences of such a decision on counterterrorism operations against ISIS, the security balance in northern and eastern Syria, and Washington’s relations with regional allies.

The discussions reflect broader debates within the administration over the future of U.S. engagement in Syria, where American forces have played a central role in supporting local partners and containing extremist threats. Analysts warn that a complete pullout could reshape dynamics on the ground, potentially creating new challenges for stability and regional security.
