Hamas reportedly stockpiling weapons in Africa and Yemen, Israeli broadcaster Kan reveals

Aden -- Israeli public broadcaster Kan has reported that Hamas is actively storing advanced weapons in several African countries and in Yemen, in what Israeli officials describe as a strategic move to circumvent disarmament efforts tied to the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

According to the Kan News report, the weapons caches are being established in nations sympathetic to Hamas, allowing the group to maintain military capabilities outside the Gaza Strip.

This development comes amid the implementation of a U.S.-brokered ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, which includes provisions for the disarmament of the Palestinian faction.

Israeli sources cited by Kan suggest that Hamas is preparing for future conflict scenarios by relocating its arsenal to external locations, potentially enabling the group to smuggle weapons back into Gaza or other strategic areas when needed.

The report also indicates that Yemen and unspecified African states have become key hubs for this activity, raising concerns about regional security and the durability of the ceasefire.

Defense analysts warn that such stockpiling efforts could undermine international diplomatic efforts aimed at stabilizing Gaza and preventing future escalations.

Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz emphasized ongoing operations to dismantle Hamas’s tunnel infrastructure and prevent weapons smuggling, stating that Israel remains committed to neutralizing threats both within and beyond its borders.

The report has sparked renewed debate over the effectiveness of disarmament clauses in ceasefire agreements and the challenges of enforcing them across multiple jurisdictions.

As negotiations over Gaza’s future governance continue to stall, the international community faces mounting pressure to address Hamas’s transnational military logistics.
