Saada — Yemeni military forces announced on Wednesday that they successfully intercepted and downed an armed drone launched by Houthi militants in the northern province of Saada.

According to a statement from the army’s media center, the drone was detected while flying over military positions in a border district of Saada, a stronghold of the Iran-backed Houthi group. Air defense units responded swiftly, shooting down the unmanned aerial vehicle before it could reach its target.

Military officials confirmed that the drone was equipped for reconnaissance and potentially armed with explosives. No casualties or damage were reported.

This incident marks the latest in a series of drone attacks attributed to Houthi forces, who have increasingly relied on unmanned systems to target military and civilian infrastructure across Yemen and neighboring countries.

The Yemeni government has repeatedly condemned the use of drones by the Houthis, calling it a violation of international law and a threat to regional stability. The army reaffirmed its readiness to confront aerial threats and protect liberated areas from further incursions.
