Aden — Security sources at Aden International Airport have revealed the arrest of three foreign nationals accused of involvement in training Houthi militias. The suspects were detained while attempting to leave the country, in what authorities describe as a significant security operation.
Initial investigations indicate that the detainees are connected to Vega Soft, a company reportedly affiliated with senior Houthi figure Adel Mutahar Al-Muayyad.
The firm is suspected of facilitating the import of advanced communications equipment with sensitive military applications, including technologies used in mapping systems, drone navigation, and ballistic missile guidance.
Officials said the arrests highlight ongoing efforts to curb external support for Houthi forces, who have increasingly relied on sophisticated technology in their military operations.
“This case underscores the scale of foreign involvement in supplying the Houthis with advanced systems that threaten regional security,” one security source noted.
The incident has raised concerns about the role of private companies in channeling dual-use technologies into Yemen’s conflict, with calls for tighter monitoring of international networks that may be enabling the Houthis’ military capabilities.
Authorities confirmed that further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of the suspects’ activities and their connections to Houthi leadership.
