Riyadh -- The latest Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit concluded with a strong message of solidarity toward Yemen, underscoring the Council’s commitment to backing the country’s Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) in its efforts to restore stability and safeguard national unity.
In its final communiqué, the GCC Ministerial Council expressed full support for the PLC, chaired by Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, highlighting the body’s central role in steering Yemen toward peace and security.
The summit emphasized that the preservation of Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity remains a top priority for Gulf states, especially amid ongoing challenges posed by the Houthi insurgency and the humanitarian crisis.
The Council also welcomed the continued mediation efforts by Saudi Arabia and Oman, aimed at reviving the stalled political process. It urged all Yemeni parties to adhere to previously agreed measures, including a comprehensive ceasefire, improving living conditions, and preparing for inclusive negotiations under United Nations auspices.
Beyond political backing, Gulf leaders reiterated their commitment to supporting Yemen’s economic recovery and reform agenda, recognizing the devastating impact of years of conflict on the country’s infrastructure and institutions.
The summit pledged to continue providing assistance to help Yemen overcome its economic challenges and rebuild state institutions.
