New York — The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is set to convene on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. New York time (6:00 p.m. Yemen time) for its regular closed consultations on Yemen, according to the Council’s provisional program of work.
During Tuesday’s preparatory discussions, Council members reviewed the latest developments in the Yemeni crisis, including the continued stalemate in political negotiations, worsening humanitarian conditions, and escalating internal tensions across multiple fronts.
The session will feature briefings from UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Joyce Msuya, and a representative of civil society. They are expected to provide updates on the political, security, humanitarian, and human rights situation in the country.
Diplomatic observers note that the meeting comes at a critical juncture, as international mediators struggle to revive peace efforts while humanitarian agencies warn of deepening suffering among civilians.
