Seiyun – Demonstrations erupted Sunday in Seiyun, Hadramout Valley, as crowds of residents rallied in support of extending the authority of the Southern Armed Forces over the city.

Eyewitnesses reported that protesters gathered in central squares and along major streets, chanting slogans endorsing the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and calling for the removal of northern military units stationed in the area.

Organizers of the demonstrations said the rallies reflect popular demands for local security to be handed over to southern forces, whom they view as more capable of protecting Hadramout and ensuring stability.

The protests come amid heightened political tensions in the governorate, where rival factions continue to contest influence.

Observers note that Seiyun has become a focal point for calls to strengthen southern control, particularly following repeated appeals by community leaders for greater autonomy in managing local affairs.

Security forces monitored the demonstrations, which remained largely peaceful, though participants vowed to continue mobilizing until their demands are met.
