UNSC to Hold Key Meetings in January on Major International Issues including Yemen

NewYork -- The United Nations Security Council is set to convene a series of meetings throughout January to address several pressing international files, including the situations in Syria, Yemen, and the Palestinian question, as well as matters related to Cyprus, Haiti, Colombia, and Central Asia.
Regarding Yemen, the Council will hold its monthly briefing followed by closed consultations.
It is expected to renew the mandate of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement, which expires on January 28.
In addition, the Council is anticipated to extend the requirement for monthly reports on Houthi attacks against commercial and cargo vessels in the Red Sea, under the mandate established by Resolution 2722, which expires on January 15.
