UK Backs Regional Efforts for Stability in Yemen

London – The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office on Sunday welcomed the call made by Yemen’s President for dialogue aimed at addressing issues in the country’s south, reaffirming its support for regional efforts to ease tensions and reach a political settlement.
Hamish Falkner, the UK Minister for Middle East Affairs, said in a statement published on the ministry’s official account that the United Kingdom also welcomes Saudi Arabia’s offer to host a dialogue conference.
Falkner stressed that achieving a swift diplomatic settlement remains the best option to serve the interests of the Yemeni people, strengthen security and stability, and bring an end to the ongoing crisis in the country.
