Yemenia Airways Launches Direct Flights Between Socotra, Jeddah

Socotra -- Yemen Airways announced Monday the launch of direct flights between Socotra Island and the Saudi city of Jeddah, as part of efforts to facilitate air transport and boost tourism activity in the island.
Mohsen Haidara, Deputy Commercial Director of Yemen Airways, said the first direct flight is scheduled for Wednesday, January 7, 2026, noting that the flight is primarily intended to evacuate stranded foreign tourists in Socotra due to operational challenges faced by the airline in recent months.
Haidara added that Yemen Airways plans to operate regular weekly flights between Jeddah and Socotra in the future, stressing that the move will contribute to strengthening tourism activity on the island and preserving its status as a global tourist destination.
He affirmed that the initiative falls within the airline’s broader strategy to enhance connectivity with key destinations, facilitate passenger movement, support the local economy, and reinforce Socotra’s presence on the international tourism map.
