Egypt’s Foreign Minister Meets UN Envoy to Yemen to Discuss Political Settlement Efforts

CAIRO – Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, met Tuesday with Hans Grundberg, the UN Secretary‑General’s Special Envoy to Yemen, as part of ongoing consultations and coordination on developments in Yemen and support for UN efforts to reach a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement to the crisis.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khalaf said Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast position in support of Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, stressing the importance of preserving national state institutions to safeguard the resources of the Yemeni people and prevent further escalation and instability.

Abdelatty emphasized the need to intensify efforts aimed at consolidating calm, reducing tensions, and creating a conducive environment for resuming the political process, based on an inclusive Yemeni dialogue that leads to a comprehensive settlement fulfilling the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security and stability.
