Taiz — An official security document issued by the Command and Control Center of Taiz Police revealed the involvement of leaders affiliated with the Islah Party in exploiting what was promoted as a state of emergency to pursue journalists, media professionals, and opposition activists over publications and criticism related to corruption cases.

The document, dated January 5, 2026, accused seven journalists and activists of supporting the Southern Transitional Council and advocating for secession, in addition to publishing content deemed offensive to the so-called National Army, according to the directive circulated to security agencies.

It also ordered eight security entities to arrest and bring in the following individuals: Abdullah Farhan, Abdulkhaleq Saif, Makram Al-Azab, Jameel Al-Samit, Jameel Al-Shujaa, Abdulsttar Al-Shumeiri, and Arwa Al-Shumeiri, citing Article 7 of the Emergency Law and directives from the National Defense Council and the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council.

These accusations have sparked widespread skepticism, with observers and human rights activists arguing that the document lacks legal evidence, describing the charges as fabricated and baseless, especially in the absence of any publications or materials substantiating the claims against the journalists and activists.
