New York — The UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, told the UN Security Council that international efforts are focused on transforming Yemen’s current “fragile stability” into a permanent and comprehensive peace.
He stressed that the future of the South cannot be determined by a single party or imposed by force.
Grundberg underlined that achieving peace requires broad consensus among Yemen’s diverse actors, warning that unilateral solutions or military coercion will not lead to sustainable stability.
He added that the United Nations will continue working with regional and international partners to support an inclusive political process that ensures all Yemeni stakeholders have a role in shaping the country’s future.
