Aden — Global shipping giant Maersk has announced plans to resume navigation through the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb Strait en route to the Suez Canal, following months of rerouting its vessels away from the area due to security risks posed by Houthi piracy and attacks in Yemen.

The company stated that the decision comes after a fresh security assessment, emphasizing that it will continue to closely monitor developments to safeguard its crews and vessels.

The move marks a significant step toward restoring one of the world’s most vital maritime corridors, a key artery for international trade between Asia and Europe.
