EU Announces Success of "ASPIDES" Naval Mission Securing Passage of 1,400 Commercial Vessels in the Red Sea

Aden -- The European Union’s EUNAVFOR ASPIDES naval mission has announced that its fleet successfully secured the safe passage of nearly 1,400 commercial vessels through the Red Sea, off the western coast of Yemen, over a period of 22 months of continuous operations.

EU officials emphasized that the mission, launched to strengthen maritime security in one of the world’s most strategic waterways, has effectively protected vessels from growing threats in the region and ensured the uninterrupted flow of global trade through this vital corridor.

This achievement highlights the EU’s expanding role in safeguarding international shipping and promoting stability in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden amid rising security challenges.
