IDF chief says army finished Oct. 7 probes

Tel Aviv -- The Israeli military has completed its internal probes into the failures linked to the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023, and is now moving to apply the findings, according to Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir on Monday.

Speaking during a senior commanders session, Zamir said the focus has shifted from investigation to shaping future plans based on the conclusions. He described the lessons from October 7 as central to the army’s long-term transformation and strategic thinking.

"The lessons of October 7 are the foundation for the IDF's change in the coming years; they will accompany us going forward, and it is our duty to continue to embed them in the IDF's new strategic concept," he said.
