Yemen: Houthi Reports of 22 US Airstrikes in Sana'a, 2 killed

The ongoing conflict in Yemen has escalated further, as Houthi rebels reported a series of U.S. airstrikes targeting the capital city, Sana'a, and other strategic locations. According to the Houthi media office, the strikes occurred on April 19, 2025, and included 13 airstrikes on an airport and port in Hodeida, a coastal city on the Red Sea.

These airstrikes are part of a broader U.S. bombing campaign that began in response to Houthi attacks on shipping routes in the Red Sea and missile strikes on Israel. The campaign has reportedly resulted in significant casualties, with over 200 deaths since mid-March. The recent strikes follow an earlier attack on the port of Ras Isa, which killed 74 people and injured 171 others.

The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres expressed grave concern over the situation, urging all parties to respect international humanitarian law and protect civilians and infrastructure. Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command has stated that the strikes were not intended to harm the people of Yemen.
