In a poignant display of solidarity, the Jordanian Armed Forces executed their seventh airdrop mission to provide humanitarian aid and food supplies to the beleaguered families seeking refuge inside the historic Church of St. Porphyrius in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood of northern Gaza.
This humanitarian effort, conducted on Christmas Eve, is a response to the dire conditions faced by approximately 800 Gazan citizens, predominantly Christian nationals, trapped within the church due to the Israeli Occupation war that has overshadowed the festive Christmas atmosphere.
Under the royal directives of His Majesty, King Abdullah II, the Jordanian Armed Forces, including the Royal Air Force, orchestrated the relief mission to address the pressing needs of those inside one of the world's oldest churches. Using umbrellas, aid boxes were delicately dropped onto the church, which has become a sanctuary for Christians and their children amidst the ongoing siege by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF).
An official military source emphasized that the airdrop aims to alleviate the severe food scarcity and shortage of essential necessities faced by those seeking refuge in the church. The act of solidarity is a clear message of support to the Christian community in Gaza during these challenging times.
His Majesty the King reaffirmed Jordan's commitment to delivering aid to those sheltering in the church during a recent meeting with Jerusalemite and Jordanian religious leaders at Al-Husseiniya Palace. The source stressed that, in adherence to royal directives, Jordan remains dedicated to supporting the people of Gaza.
The nation pledges to stand by the Palestinian people and reinforce their resilience on their homeland through various means, thereby easing the burdens imposed by the challenging humanitarian conditions they endure. This commitment reflects Jordan's ongoing efforts to provide support and comfort to those affected by the conflict in the region.
